Getting Started
How do I request an appointment? There are several ways to request your first appointment:
- Complete the online form
- Call the office at (509) 903-6811
Do you get people in right away or is there a waitlist? I generally have a waitlist for new clients. In some cases I am able to get waitlist clients on the schedule within a month to three months. Clients with more schedule flexibility are typically quicker to get in.
Do you take insurance? I am contracted with several major insurance companies and will bill your insurance for sessions. I provide an estimate of your out of pocket costs to be collected at the time of service.
Will you provide a free consultation? I understand choosing a therapist is a difficult and arduous task and happy to provide a brief consultation over the phone. However, scheduling an intake session might be a better opportunity to meet with me and discuss your needs for therapy and hear more how my approach may be of help.
How do you do scheduling? I prefer clients see me on a regular basis, ideally weekly but some bi-weekly spots are available. Clients with schedule flexibility can be scheduled on a week-to-week basis. Once clients are accepted, I hold a spot on my caseload for their care.
What do I do to prepare for the first appointment? I will get some basic information from you to set you up in my electronic medical records system. You will receive an invitation to login and create your profile prior to our first appointment. You will be able to complete forms and share a bit more about what brings you in for therapy. I will also provide a welcome email with information about my practice, directions and important information to help you prepare for your first appointment.
How long is therapy? This is dependent on the client, their presenting and ongoing concerns. Generally clients start with weekly appointments for the first 2-3 months at which point most clients begin to feel relief. After this time, clients may elect to continue weekly appointments until they have reached their treatment goals or reduce frequency of sessions. Many clients continue with maintenance or refresher sessions after their initial episode of care.
Do you prescribe medication? No, I do not prescribe medication but can make referrals to prescribers who can best meet your medication needs. I do work with your medication prescriber to coordinate your care.
